We really enjoyed the outside patio and beverages. There is a beautiful view of Mt Hood from the balconies. The continental breakfast was really good. The room was comfortable. The private bathroom was a must have. All the staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was very clean.

A little off the main routes which was perfect. Very quiet, exceptionally clean, beautiful restoration of a 1907 hotel. Food was excellent and the staff was nothing short of awesome - best I’ve experienced in a very long time.

The idea was to slow down and relax. The Blach Hotel was the perfect choice. Loved everything about it. Really, enjoyed the grounds. Great place to relax outdoors Enjoyed a great breakfast and dinner meal in their dining area.

Super friendly staff. Really clean and decorated right. Unique experience. In spite of it being older and preserved it was warm and welcoming. Cool little Bistro. Great garden/patio. The staff even offered to turn the fire pits on for us. Great experience all the way around.

Very friendly and helpful owners and staff - nothing was too much trouble. Large comfortable rooms, well stocked library, gardens in which to sit and enjoy. Location in lovely historic town of Dufur with easy access to The Dalles and Columbia River.

Okay. Cold egg was old, impossible to take shell off without destroying it. At least serve a hot egg or oatmeal, especially in the winter.

We needed a place to stay last minute after a camping trip went badly. We weren't sure about booking this place, but Balch Hotel far exceeded our expectations! It is a lovely old building with so much character. The only thing I would give 4 stars instead of 5 is that it is an old building with loud doors and creaky furniture. But that is also what adds to the charm and we were never disturbed by the sounds of other guests. The breakfast was great and I loved how they didn't use single-use plastic. I also really appreciated the gay pride flag and black lives matter sign at the entryway.

It is charming and beautifully cared for inside and out. The public spaces are inviting. We had dinner at the bistro, and the food was delicious. They supply a tasty breakfast, as well.
